Goldfrapp?
The video below runs so awfully on this here computer, I went to BooTjoob to check the 'original'. Which of course presented me with a lot of related links, a.k.a. more Goldfrapp videos. Well, it just occured to me that Alison Goldfrapp is larger than life, a.k.a. Madonna. Watch the glam style video of Ooh-La-La and you'll see what I mean. Move over to the almost (?!?) psychedelic installment of Strict Machine, and you see what I mean, again. Let It Take You. And then Fly Me Away!
Haven't been posting for a long time. A loooooong time even. And probably won't post again too soon. However, I felt like putting the (link to the) new Goldfrapp video here. As a long time fan (admirer) of their outstanding work, their latest release Seventh Tree has been sort of a mixed bag for me, as it was so... different. Well, I just found that actually listening to their album rather than skipping through the songs in order to see (hear) my expectations fulfilled rewarded me with what became another brilliant Godfrapp longplayer. And now, here's the single - Happiness. Ain't that so!
Thomas Dolby, one of the groundbreaking synth explorers of the 80's, is on tour again. For those unable to go, here's an excerpt of his live performance. There's five 'episodes' available as podcasts on his website - for free download. Don't you miss it!
My recent addition to the sidebar is Cool Hunting. While I still have to find out more about that site, it grabbed my attention by having an article about Matthew Herbert, one of my favourite musical artists. The article features a video which is about Herbert and his album Scale, released in 2006. As you all know, BPU is my digital scrapbook - so I can put things here for future... erm, evaluation. Four weeks since my last post, and October's almost over - so I hope you're thoroughly enjoying the rest of it. L8ers!
Gordon Ramsay shows us how to do it right. Speaking of right... right at the end he even managed to make me grin. Sort of. Have a nice weekend, you lot! Yeah, right...
I have been writing about an interesting turn in the music business here, and being some sort of music addict I've been discussing the future of the music industry with quite a number of people. While I still haven't cracked a fortune cookie that would tell me what it will be like in say, five years time, certain aspects regarding the music industry and the deep pile of sh!t they're in are too obvious - and still their sinking ship heads directly towards the monster wave. This article expands on the future of the music industry, while this one talks about a profitable outcome for musicians. Interesting reads, me says.
A cool video for a good song of one of my secret favourite band - the Eels. Why secret? Because I keep forgetting about them until I stumble across a reminder, which reminds me of what a good songwriter Mark Oliver Everett aka E really is. I happened to get a promo copy of Eels' debut album Beautiful Freak. It took a few spins until it snapped but then stayed on heavy rotation for a couple of days, maybe even weeks. This song / video here is taken from the second Eels album Electro-Shock Blues, which was written during a 'very difficult time' in E's life. It's really worth checking them out - here's a bit of Wiki info, and here's more videos of them on YouTube.
